Aortic Dissection is a time critical-medical emergency. Without diagnosis and treatment, it is often fatal. When diagnosed and treated on time it has a better than 80% survival rate. However, survivors require specialised long term follow-up and their relatives may require specialised screening. Currently, the diagnosis, follow-up and screening of patients with aortic dissection are not consistent.
The Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust aims to improve the diagnosis of aortic dissection and bring consistency of treatment across the whole patient pathway.
